How to Fix a Corrupt Memory Card for the PS2

Sony PlayStation 2 memory cards sometimes have a mind of their own. Saved game files sometimes become corrupted. Common ways they become corrupted are through the use of unofficial devices. Using products like a Gameshark or Pro Action Replay provides gamers with codes and unlockables that they could not attain any other way, but they may also corrupt save files; even files that they have not tampered with. Use these products at your own discretion.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the memory card into the PS2's memory-card slot. It can go into either one of the slots.

    • 2

Eject any disc that is in the system. Press the power button.

    • 3

Highlight "Browser" and press the "X" button on the PS2 controller.

    • 4

Select the corrupted memory card. Locate the corrupted file. Press "X" on the file. A new box appears. Select "Delete." The file will disappear in a few seconds and a prompt will tell you that the file has been successfully deleted. Repeat this for multiple corrupted files.
