Things You'll Need
Instructions
Turn off your PS2 and remove any attached cables from the ports on the back of the device. Then remove the controllers from the ports in the front of the device. If you have installed a network adapter, use your Phillips screwdriver to remove all screws from the component and take it off the device.
Turn the unit upside down and use the tip of your screwdriver to remove each of the seven rubber screw covers from the bottom of the unit. Then use your Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws themselves.
Turn the unit right-side up, lift the case of the PlayStation up from the back and slide it forward to remove it from the unit.
Remove all screws from the sides and corners of the square white heat sink in the side of the unit. Then lift the controller and power plug connector from their ports in the front and back of the device. Be careful as they are still connected by cables. Set them a couple inches to the side of the unit.
Lift the internal components up to remove them from the bottom shell of the PlayStation. Then turn the components over to reveal the large square main circuit board on the side of the unit.
Remove the four screws from each corner of the main board and disconnect the white power cable from the port in the side of the board.
Lift the main board off of the unit and use your screwdriver to remove any chips or components that are attached. Your PS2 main board is now taken apart.
