Things You'll Need
Instructions
Soap and Water
Rinse the surface of your PlayStation 2 disc using warm water and soap. Sometimes a PS2 disc will appear scratched but simply needs a thorough cleaning.
Dry your disc using a lint-free cloth. Always wipe the surface of the disc in straight lines--wiping in a circular motion can cause even greater scratching.
Set the disc aside until it finishes drying completely. Even after you finishing wiping the liquid from the surface, you do not want to test the disc in your PS2 immediately because even a minor presence of liquid can damage the system.
CD Cleaner
Hold your CD cleaner bottle at a 45-degree angle and spray it all along the surface of your PlayStation 2 disc. When water and soap fail you, this type of solution can have greater effectiveness.
Dry your disc using a lint-free cloth. If your CD cleaner includes a special drying cloth as part of its package, use that cloth as opposed to a standard cloth. Remember once again to always wipe your disc in straight lines and never use circular motions.
Set your disc aside and let it dry completely before testing it inside your PlayStation 2.
Toothpaste
Place a dab of toothpaste on your index finger and gently press it onto the surface of your PlayStation 2 disc. Though it may seem odd, toothpaste can effectively clean and minimize the effects of scratching on any type of media disc, including a PlayStation 2 disc.
Gently spread the toothpaste along the surface of the disc using your index finger. Because your finger cannot harm the disc in the same manner as a cloth, feel free to rub the toothpaste in a circular motion.
Wipe the disc using a lint-free cloth.
