How to Create Network PS2 Memory Cards

The Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2), like other sixth-generation consoles, can connect to the Internet though a PS2 network adapter. However, since older PS2 models do not have a hard drive, network information must be installed to a PS2 memory card. As long as you have the right equipment, creating a PS2 memory card with network information is a simple task.

Things You'll Need

  • PS2 3000-5000 series model
  • PS2 memory card (with 137KB of free space)
  • PS2 network adapter
  • Ethernet cable
  • Active modem

Instructions

    • 1

Install the PS2 network adapter by inserting it into the PS2's hard drive slot on the back of the console. Connect the network adapter to your modem using an Ethernet cable.

    • 2

Insert the memory card into your PS2's memory card slot and insert the PS2 online start-up disc into the console's disc drive. This disc comes with your PS2 network adapter.

    • 3

Turn on your PS2. Once the online disc program begins, you'll be asked to set up your network connection. Follow the prompts and the online start-up program will install the necessary files in your PS2 memory card, turning it into a network memory card.

    • 4

Repeat Steps 2 and 3 when you need to make another network memory card. Keep in mind that this card will contain information only for your specific network.
