How to Use a Flash Drive on a Playstation 2

Considering that the Sony Playstation 2 has USB ports located on the front of the system, it would stand to reason that any USB flash drive would be compatible with the system. Sadly, this is not true for a PS2 right out of the box. However, there is software available that, when installed onto a PS2, will allow you to plug USB flash drives into the system for the purposes of transferring data.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert a blank PS2 memory card and the USB flash drive software disc into your PS2. If you are having trouble finding USB flash drive software for your PS2, look into cheat devices for the PS2. The MaxDrive software from Datel is a suitable program to use, and it comes with a flash drive as well.

Plug your flash drive into an available USB port on your PS2, and begin the USB flash drive program. The program will install some files onto your PS2's memory card, so make sure you do not remove the memory card during this process.

Follow the prompts that come with your program in order to allow your PS2 to communicate with your USB drive. You should now be able to transfer PS2 game save files to and from your USB drive.
