How to Use a USB Stick for a PS2 Memory Card

Despite its advantages, including WiFi access, one major drawback of the PSP gaming console is its limited memory. But you can get around that problem by using a USB flash drive.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase a "USB A Female to USB B Male" adapter cord (see References). These cords can be found at your local electronics retailer or online.

    • 2

Plug your flash drive into an available USB port on your computer. Open the flash drive by going to the "Start" menu at the bottom left hand side of your computer screen. Click the "My Comptuer" tab and open your flash drive by double clicking on the icon in the window.

    • 3

Right click inside of this window and click "New" to add some new folders. Add six new folders named PSP, UPDATE, SETTINGS, MV100, VIDEO and SAVED DATA.

    • 4

Click on the folder titled "PSP" that you created to be taken inside of the folder. Add three folders titled GAMES, MUSIC, and PHOTOS.

    • 5

Transfer your files to the flash drive according to category. For instance, if you want to save some of your music you would put it in the MUSIC folder.

    • 6

Exit out of the window and "Eject" the flash drive from your computer by right clicking on the icon in your "My Computer" folder and selecting "Eject" from the options.

    • 7

Unplug your flash drive from the computer.

    • 8

Plug the small end of your USB adapter cord into the mini USB port on the top of the PSP.

    • 9

Connect your flash drive to the other end of the USB adapter cord.

    • 10

      Turn on your PSP.

    • 11

Open your files the same way you would with a regular PSP memory card.
