How to Connect a PS2 to 5.1 Surround Sound

The PlayStation 2 gaming console connects to other electronic devices, such as a television or surround sound receiver, with three audio-video cables terminating in RCA-type 1/4-inch plugs. The plugs are color coded to match the receiving jacks. When connecting to a 5.1 surround sound receiver, the PlayStation 2 attaches just like any other AV component. The receiver then processes the audio signals from the PS2 through the 5.1 speaker system and transmits video to a TV for game play. The PS2 comes with its own cables; a TV and video cable complete the setup.
