How to Recover PS2 Games Off an HD Loader Partition

The Sony PS2 is one of the most successful home video game consoles of all time. It is highly modifiable and the best software mod available is called HDLoader. This application allows you to install full PS2 games on your PS2 hard drive and play them from there. If you need to recover the game file to back it up, you can simply connect the hard drive to your computer and copy it off.

Phillips head driver

  Turn off the Sony PS2 and disconnect the power cable from it. Remove the screws on the expansion cover on the rear of the PS2 and slide the hard drive out of the expansion bay.

  Insert the hard drive into the hard-drive cradle and connect it to your computer. A window will appear on the computer and you will see all of the files on the hard drive.

  Open the "HDLoader" folder and you will see all of the games that you have installed on it. Right-click the game that you want to recover and click "Copy."

  Locate a place on your computer to save the game file, and right-click it. Click "Paste" and the game will be copied onto your computer. You now have a backup copy.
