How to Fix the Wireless Guitar for PS2

When you absolutely have to rock, there is no time for tangled wires. Guitar Hero 3 for the PlayStation 2 features a wireless guitar to help you live out your rock star fantasies without the concern of knocking things over. Wireless guitars are more convenient than their wired alternatives, but are more prone to develop connection issues.

Instructions

    • 1

Replace the batteries in your wireless guitar. Open the battery compartment on the back of the guitar body and insert two fresh AA batteries. Low batteries can cause sync issues and may result in your guitar disconnecting during play.

    • 2

Improve your guitar's chances of "seeing" the wireless signal by moving closer to your PlayStation 2 console. You can also try moving the system to a place where it will have a direct line of site to the controller.

    • 3

Test your controller port by removing the Guitar Hero wireless receiver and plugging in a traditional PlayStation 2 controller. If you can interact with games, re-insert the wireless receiver into this port.

    • 4

Re-sync your wireless guitar to the PlayStation 2 console. You can do this by holding the sync button located on the front of the receiver and hitting any button on the guitar. If successful, you should see the red light on the receiver flash with each guitar button press.

Minimize possible interference with the wireless signal by placing the console at least 2 feet from metal objects and turning off nearby electronics such as wireless phones, microwave ovens and cell phones.
