How to Connect PS2 to Wireless Internet

With more and more households subscribing to wireless Internet rather than the cable-based ethernet service, it's small wonder that many gamers are trying to bring their old PS2 consoles to a point where they too can access a wireless signal. Because the PS2 does not natively support wireless networking, it must be connected to a computer that has the ability to use a wireless connection--usually a laptop, but a desktop will work in a pinch too. In order to do this, a network bridge must be created to allow the PS2 to piggyback onto the computer's wireless connection. Fortunately, this is not nearly as difficult as it sounds.

Things You'll Need

  • Computer with wireless Internet connection and free ethernet port
  • Ethernet cable

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the computer and access the Control Panel once the operating system has loaded.

    • 2

Double-click the "Network connections" icon to bring up a window containing all of methods your computer has of connecting to the internet.

    • 3

Click the icon representing your computer's wireless connection, then hold down the "CTRL" key and select the "Local Area Network" icon to select that as well.

    • 4

Right-click one of the selected networks and select "Bridge Networks." This will allow the Local Area Network to connect to the Internet through the wireless network's connection.

    • 5

Plug the Ethernet cable into the ethernet port on the back of the computer, and the other end into the ethernet port on the PS2. As long as the computer is connected wirelessly to the Internet, the PS2 will be able to use that connection as well.
