How to Install PS2 Solderless Mod Chips

Put a beach towel on a table. Remove all of the cables from the PS2. Put the PS2 face down on the beach towel.

Scratch off the warranty stickers from the bottom of the PS2 with the tip of the utility knife. Pull off the four rubber feet from the bottom of the PS2 with the tip of the utility knife.

Remove the screws now exposed on the bottom of the PS2 with the Torx screwdriver. Turn the PS2 face up on the beach towel.

Lift the sides of the outer case of the PS2 off with your hands. Put the outer case aside.

Locate the metal grill heat shield at the upper right side. Release the catch on each side of the metal grill heat shield with the tip of the utility knife. Lift the metal grill heat shield off the PS2 with your fingers. Place the metal grill heat shield aside.

Blow off the computer chips now revealed from under the metal grill heat shield with compressed air.

Hold the solderless PS2 mod chip frame over the square computer chip--the smaller computer chip next to the larger rectangular one. Line up the solderless PS2 mod chip frame so that the notch on the frame is over the notch on the square computer chip.

Push the solderless PS2 mod chip frame down onto the square computer chip with your fingers. Stop pressing when the solderless PS2 mod chip frame clicks into position on top of the square computer chip.

Line up the pins of the solderless PS2 mod chip with those of the solderless PS2 mod chip frame. Push the solderless PS2 mod chip down onto the solderless PS2 mod chip frame. Stop pressing when the solderless PS2 mod chip clicks into position on top of the solderless PS2 mod chip frame.

Blow off the computer chips with compressed air.

Put the metal grill heat shield back over the computer chips. Re-engage the clips on either side of the metal grill heat shield with the tip of the utility knife.

Reverse the disassembly process to reassemble the PS2. Reattach the cables.
