How to Stop Freezing on a PS2 Game

Few things are more frustrating to a gamer than having a game freeze in the middle of a gaming session. Like DVDs, PS2 games can freeze up or skip because of dirt, smudges or scratches on the data side of the disc. Fortunately, you can take care of all of these problems using a lint-free cloth and some toothpaste. By following a few simple steps, you can get your PS2 game discs back in working order in under 10 minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Wipe off any loose particles from the data side of the PS2 disc. Use gentle, circular motions to avoid scratching the disc.

    • 2

Rub a generous amount of toothpaste onto the data side of the disc. Use your fingers to spread an even coat across the surface and use circular motions to buff out any scratches.

    • 3

Rinse the disc thoroughly using cool water. Make sure there is no toothpaste residue left on the disc.

    • 4

Allow the disc to dry completely before loading it into your PS2 system. The game should play normally without freezing now.
