How to Add a Hard Drive to a Slim PS2

Remove all of the cables from the PS2. Put the PS2 down on a table.

Place the hard drive and the Sony network adapter down on the table.

Line up the male power and male data connectors on the Sony network adapter with the female power and female data connectors on the hard drive.

Push the Sony network adapter against the hard drive so that both connectors mate.

Insert the tip of the flat-edged jeweler's screwdriver into the seam between the hard drive cover plate and the back of the PS2 Slim.

Wiggle the tip of the flat-edged jeweler's screwdriver to loosen the cover plate. Remove the cover plate from the hard drive compartment with your fingers and put it away.

Slide the hard drive into the hard drive compartment on the back of the PS2 Slim. Stop pushing when the Sony network adapter is flush with the back of the PS2 Slim.

Screw in the knobs on each side of the Sony network adapter with your fingers.

Attach all of the cables to the PS2 Slim's power connector. Attach the game controller to the PS2 Slim.

Eject the disc tray of the DVD drive. Put the CD hard drive installation disc onto the disc tray. Close the disc tray.

Wait for the menu to appear on the screen. Select "HDLoader" from the menu. Press "X" on the game controller. Select "Yes" when the screen asks if the hard drive should be formatted.

Press the "Eject" key and remove the CD hard drive installation disc once the hard drive has been formatted. Turn off the PS2 Slim.
