How to Fix Scratches on PS2 Games

PlayStation 2 games can get damaged and scratched from use or if they are not put away properly. Scratches can cause the discs not to work. You can buy a machine that will buff out the scratches on a game discs surface, which will work best. However, if you do not want to spend the money on a disc doctor, you can try this home method for cleaning the scratches off the surface of the PS2 game discs.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Rinse the game disc with warm water. With a clean cloth, wipe the disc from the center to the edge in straight lines. Do not move in a circular motion. This can further damage the disc. After wiping, rinse the disc again and allow it to air dry.

Apply white toothpaste with baking soda onto the disc. Buff with your hand moving from the inside of the disk outward like you did when you were cleaning the game disc. Do this gently. Too much pressure will further scratch your disc. When you do this, you are buffing out the surface scratches.

Rinse the disc and allow it to air dry. Once dry, try playing the disc.
