There are many different options available in stores and on the Internet that can do a portion of what needs to be done but still may require further work afterward. Any all-in-one solution is the best route to take. The DVDFab family of programs offers everything you need under one roof. There are different variations of the software, such as DVDFab HD Decrypter and DVDFab Platinum. For the sole purpose of shrinking and copying your PS2 discs, any of the versions that advertise DVD copying should work just fine. To obtain the newest versions of DVDFab software, visit the first link in References below. Other third-party sites (see References) also offer the programs as well as older versions for download as well. The software is not free and will either grant you a 15- or 30-day trial period depending on the version. The prices also vary from product to product.
Fire up your new software of choice and insert your PS2 disc into your DVD drive. Select the "Clone" option from the menu on the left side of the program's window; this will allow you to make an exact 1:1 backup copy of your PS2 game disc.
Click "Start" and allow DVDFab to finish copying the data on the disc. The disc information will be held temporarily on your computer in this mode, and all you need to do thereafter is insert your blank DVD into the drive, where it will automatically begin to copy for you. Essentially, DVDFab is copying and shrinking the contents of your PS2 game disc all at once to fit on a normal-size DVD while retaining its ability to function on a modified PS2. If you desire to retain the game data on your hard disk, you may run the program again, changing the destination option from your DVD drive to the preferred folder on your computer.
