How to Program PS2 Games on a Windows PC

Being able to use and program PlayStation 2 games on your Windows PC is now possible with the use of Sony PlayStation 2 emulation software. A few different emulators can run PlayStation 2 games on a Windows PC, and many of them run at about the same speed. The goal of the emulators is to handle commercial games at full speed.

      Download one of the three different Sony PlayStation 2 emulators from the first link in Resources section below. They are named PCSX2, NeutrinoSX2 and PS2emu. PCSX2 is considered to be the fastest emulator out there, while PS2emu was the first emulator available.

      Open the software by double-clicking the EXE file found within the emulator folder. You will be presented with the program main menu. Click the "File" button at the top left side of the program main menu and select "Run CDVD." A new window will appear, and you will be able to load your PS2 game for program testing.

      Click the "Emulation" button at the top of the main program menu and click "Go." Your Sony PlayStation 2 program will start, and you will be able to test your PlayStation 2 code. Click "Debug" and "Initialisation" to debug the program to see the possible problems with your PS2 game. To end the emulation, click the "Emulation" button and click "Stop."
