How to Copy PS1 Games to a PS2 HD

The Sony Playstation2 (PS2) was one of the first video game consoles to offer an internal hard drive to store game information. What Sony more than likely hoped for was independent developers creating a method to save entire games to the hard drive, and then make those games playable with a disc loader. HDLoader has come up with a way to do just that and you do not need to modify your PS2 at all.

Insert your Playstation2 hard drive. Turn on your Sony Playstation2 and remove any game or movie disc that may be in the optical drive. Select ̶0;Install̶1; when you are presented with the HDLoader main menu. A window will appear asking you to switch the HDLoader disc with your PS1 game disc. Open the optical drive. remove the HDLoader disc, and replace it with the PS1 disc. Your game will automatically be copied to the PS2 hard drive.

HDLoader will notify you when the process has completed. Remove the PS1 game disc once the process has finished. Place the HDLoader disc back into the PS2 optical drive. Select your newly installed game from the list that now appears on the HDLoader main menu and your game will start.
