Guitar Hero (Series)
Guitar Hero redefined the rhythm game genre with its plastic guitar peripherals and widely popular track selection, and it all started with the original Guitar Hero on the PlayStation 2. While the original featured only covers of popular songs and guitars as the only playable instrument, time has been kind to the series and ever since Guitar Hero: World Tour came out, players have been able to jam out as a full band (guitar, bass, drums and vocals) to licensed master tracks.
Despite the PlayStation 2̵7;s status as a last-gen console, you can still pick up all the latest Guitar Hero games and peripherals for the system. With all the series̵7; advances, you and your friends can enjoy multiplayer jamming to one of hundreds of tracks, compete in duel mode or even create your own music in the music studio.
Twisted Metal: Black
Unlike most games featuring cars, Twisted Metal: Black isn̵7;t about racing, but about killing your opponents. In addition to a single-player story mode that has you following the career of a driver of your choosing, you can play in a variety of multiplayer modes with friends. The most basic multiplayer mode is death match, in which you and up to three of your friends can participate in a split-screen death match. Co-op lets you go through the single player̵7;s story with a partner at your side, while last man standing has you and a friend compete using identical cars.
You̵7;ll be able to choose from 15 playable characters (10 to start and 5 you have to unlock through game play) and 11 different levels for your multiplayer car-on-car combat.
Soul Calibur III
The PlayStation 2 saw many fighting games during its time, and Soul Calibur III was one of its most popular. Soul Calibur III lets you and your friends choose from 23 playable combatants on a variety of stages. Like most fighting games, your goal is to either pummel your opponent until his HP (hit points) reach zero, or knock him out of the ring. Soul Calibur III goes above and beyond the typical kicks, punches and special projectile attacks, though, and you̵7;ll find a new layer of depth in this fighting game with its emphasis on the various characters̵7; weaponry. From katanas to staffs to scythes, each character is decked out with specific weaponry and corresponding skills to master.
In addition to the multiplayer versus mode, you can battle through story mode or use the character creator to design your own fighter for use in versus mode.
