How to Burn DVD9 Games for a PS2

Being able to back up your Sony PlayStation 2 games to a disc is vital to maximizing the amount of playing time that you get out of your game investments. Once you have copied the game to your computer and are ready to burn the disc, you may notice it is larger than normal DVDs. If this is the case, you have a dual-layered DVD game, also called a DVD9. Burning this is similar to regular PS2 game discs, but you do need a higher capacity disc.

      Download and install the software found in the Resources section of this guide. ̶0;ImgBurn̶1; and is free software that is updated frequently. This is the most cost-effective solution for burning your PS2 DVD9 games.

      Place your blank DVD9 into your computer̵7;s optical disc drive and wait for your computer to recognize it. If any windows open you need to close them immediately by clicking the ̶0;X̶1; in the upper-right corner of the window.

      Open the disc-burning software that you just installed and click on ̶0;Write image to disc̶1; when the initial ImgBurn menu appears. You will be prompted with the image burning menu where you can set up the burning program.

      Drag the PS2 game image onto ImgBurn while it is open and they will be added to the program. Alternatively, you can click the ̶0;Source̶1; icon on ImgBurn to open a window and find your game image. Click ̶0;Save̶1; to load the game image into ImgBurn. Click the "Write Speed" drop-down menu and click on "4X" or lower to make sure no errors occur.

      Click the green ̶0;Start̶1; arrow at the bottom of ImgBurn to begin the burning process, and your PS2 game will be backed up to your blank DVD9 disc. Once the process is complete, ImgBurn will notify you and you can shut the program down.
