How to Score Goals on PES

Pro Evolution Soccer, originally released in Japan as Winning Eleven, is a sports strategy game released by Konami for the PlayStation 2 console. PES allows players to control all facets of play surrounding a soccer match, from in-game play to pregame strategy. Scoring in PES is designed to be more realistic for higher difficulty levels, meaning a player only should score about two or three goals per match. Practice several offensive skills and tactics in PES to increase your ability to create scoring chances and finish them.

Instructions

    • 1

Press "square" to shoot the ball towards the opponent's net. Holding down "square" will charge up your shot and make it more powerful. However, let your shot fly before a defender knocks the ball away.

    • 2

Fool defenders with a diagonal through pass. Play two center forwards, and fix your player alignment so that one CF is slightly ahead of the other. Bring the ball forward with the rear CF, and execute a diagonal forward pass to the other CF. Shoot quickly before the defenders have had time to recover.

    • 3

Perform a touch pass between two rushing players to give your player a clear shot. When rushing forward, press "L1" and "X" to perform a quick touch pass. Immediately press "triangle," which will cause the player receiving the pass to pass back to the original ball carrier. Press "square" to shoot.

    • 4

Aim between defenders while attempting a free kick. Lower the kick trajectory as much as possible and hold up on the directional pad to increase your shot power to the maximum level. Press "square" to shoot.

    • 5

Raise your kick trajectory to two-thirds of the maximum height when attempting a corner. Press "square" to kick. Press "square" again as the ball reaches the goal to direct the ball with a header.

    • 6

Practice taking set pieces with your players in between games. Select Practice Mode from the PES main menu. While in Practice Mode, set up a few free kicks at different areas on the field against a full defense. Set pieces are the easiest way to score against the opposing team on tougher difficulties.
