How to Load DVD-R on a PS2

DVD-R is a DVD format used by a variety of computer brands to save data onto the disk. If you have a video DVD-R you can play it in most DVD players. This includes the Sony PlayStation 2. The Sony PlayStation 2 has the capabilities of playing most home created DVDs, however the device is a little more sensitive to self-created DVDs, so you may need to insert the disk into the gaming system a few different times before it loads.

  Power on the Sony PlayStation 2 and remove any disk currently in the DVD drive of the gaming system.

  Insert the DVD-R into the drive and close it. Wait a few moments to see if the DVD-R loads properly. If it does, skip the rest of the steps.

  Eject the DVD-R from the PS2 and remove it from the drive.

  Inspect the bottom of the disk. Any blemish on the disk can cause the PlayStation 2 to not read the disk properly.

  Clean off the disk with a clean cloth. You can also use water or glass cleaner. Rub the disk from the inside rim to the outside rim. Allow the disk to dry and reinsert it into the PlayStation 2. With the disk cleaned off the gaming system should have no trouble loading the disk.
