Defeating Hydra
On your first encounter with the Hydra, use light combo attacks by pressing the "square" button repeatedly. When Hydra pulls back you will notice the beast's ears flap. Press and hold the "L1" button to block any attacks. Keep blocking until the Hydra returns to its original position before attacking again. After doing enough damage, a "circle" button icon will appear above the Hydra's head, allowing you to initiate a mini-game that requires you to follow on-screen button commands to move on.
On your second encounter with the Hydra, continue to use light attacks by pressing the "square" button. Heavy attacks leave Kratos open to the Hydra's attacks and should be avoided. This time the Hydra will attack by slamming it's head to the left, right and then center of the playing field. You can avoid the first two attacks by staying near the middle and continuing light attacks, but use the right analog stick to evade the third attack. Occasionally, the Hydra will attempt to plunge and grab you with its jaws. You cannot block or evade this attack, but you can grapple the jaws by pressing the "circle" button to counter-attack.
Your next encounter will actually be against three Hydra heads; two smaller ones and a larger one. At first, you will only have to deal with the two smaller heads in a similar way as your previous battles with the Hydra. Block incoming attacks using the "L1" button and use light attacks against the Hydras when there is an opening. After doing enough damage, the hydras will be rendered unconscious. Jump on the blocks that are either side of the enemies to jump on a hook that's hanging above. This will allow you to impale one of the Hydra's heads and finish it off. Repeat this step until both are defeated.
After defeating the two lesser Hydra heads, jump onto the large netting in the center of the ship and climb up to face off against the largest Hydra. His attacks are similar to the previous encounters, but instead of wiggling his ears, the Hydra rears back and hisses like a cobra before attacking. When the Hydra attacks, run over to the edge of the platform and wait until the enemy gets it's fangs stuck into the platform. Use this opportunity to attack until a "circle" button appears over the Hydra's head. This will initiate another mini-game in which you must press the buttons that appear on-screen. After repeating these steps three times, the Hydra will be defeated.
