Things You'll Need
Instructions
Unplug your PlayStation 2 from any electrical outlets.
Remove the expansion bay cover from the back of the PS2. This is the cover at the bottom of the back of the PS2 with the words "expansion bay" written on it. If you have a network adapter in your expansion bay, remove the network adapter. To remove the cover, use the indentation at the top of the cover as a finger grip to pull the cover/adapter free.
If you have a network adapter, you will need to attach it to your PS2 hard drive. To do so, press the lock tabs located at the front of the PS2 hard drive. Then, insert the connectors of the network adapter into the matching connectors of the hard drive. Make sure you insert the connectors straight into each other to avoid bending the connector pins.
Hold the hard drive with the rails facing the top, and insert the hard drive into the PS2 expansion bay slot. Press the hard drive gently into the slot to avoid damage.
Reattach the expansion bay cover to the expansion bay slot. If you have a network adapter, you will need to tighten the network adapter's mounting screws. Use a coin to tighten the screws. Do not use a screwdriver.
Plug your Playststion 2 back in and turn it on. The system should now be reading your hard drive.
