How to Format a Flash Drive to Look Like a Memory Card for PlayStation 2
Disassemble the flash drive. Remove the USB memory unit from the casing. This process depends on the design of your thumb drive. Use a Phillips precision screwdriver to remove any screws from the flash drive casing. Use a utility knife to pry the case open. Carefully remove the memory unit and set it aside.
Disassemble the PlayStation 2 memory card. Turn the memory card over. Your card may have two or four small screws, depending on the manufacturer. Remove the screws and use the utility knife to pry the casing open. Remove the memory unit.
Remove the original memory card slot guides to make room for the USB plug and memory unit. The slot guides are a part of the bottom half of the memory card casing. Use the width the flash drive̵7;s USB plug to mark the material that needs to be removed. Ensure that the new opening will offer a snug fit for the USB plug. It is also important that the new opening is centered. Use the utility knife to carefully cut away the plastic.
Install the flash drive memory unit. You will need a well heated hot glue gun for this. Apply adhesive to the bottom of the USB memory unit̵7;s board. The glue should cover the board without spilling off the sides. Place the USB unit in its new casing. Remember that the plug needs to extend far enough from the casing to fit receiving device. Give the adhesive time to cool and completely harden. This should take about a minute.
Attach the top half of the PS2 memory card casing, and replace the screws. The new flash drive is ready for use.
