How to Clear a PS2 Memory Card

The Playstation 2 allows you to use different memory cards that can be inserted and removed from the console and hold all of the game save data. Each memory card can store quite a bit of data but eventually those cards will fill up. You can either buy a new card, or erase some files that you no longer want in order to create more space.

  Place your Playstation 2 memory card into the Memory Card slot of your Playstation 2 console.

  Connect a controller to the Playstation 2 console and power it on without a disc inside of the disc tray.

  Once on the Menu Screen, move the arrow over the Memory Card heading and hit the "X" button on your PS2 controller. A new screen will appear. Clicking on each icon on this screen will show all of your available files and each file will have the name of the game and the amount of space the file takes.

  Choose a file to delete by moving the arrow over the appropriate file and hitting the "X" button on your controller. This will bring up a sub menu where you will be able to choose the "Delete" function. To clear the entire memory card, select each file individually and choose "Delete" from the appropriate menu. Once all the files are gone and the screen is cleared, your memory card will be completely empty.
