How to Turn a PS2 Memory Card Into a USB

The Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) uses a memory card as its primary storage device. Although the memory card is made to function just with a PlayStation 2, it is possible to connect the device to a computer and use it as a USB flash drive. Although the flash drive would probably be smaller in memory than most flash drives you can purchase, having a PS2 memory card as a flash drive allows you to transport both your saved game information and content from your computer.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the PlayStation 2 memory card into a USB adapter. The adapter has a rectangular port connected to a USB cable. Although this device is not often found in stores, there are many locations on the Web that sell the product.

    • 2

Plug the USB cable into an available USB port on your computer. In a moment, the computer will state it has detected new hardware connected.

    • 3

Open "My Computer" (also referred to as "Computer" in some versions of Windows) and double-click the removable disk icon. This will display all the content saved on the disk. The saved game information is not going to function on your computer; however, you can remove the files by selecting them and pressing "Delete."

    • 4

Drag any files you want to save on the PlayStation 2 memory card. This should be limited to word files. However, you can save some music files. Video files are most likely going to be too large.

    • 5

Close out the removable disk window. Right-click the icon and select "Eject." In a moment the icon will disappear. You can now remove the memory card and connect it to other computers.
