How to Erase PS2 Memory Cards

The primary use of a PS2 memory card is to hold saved files from video games. Saved files allow the user to begin where he left off. Memory cards can also be used to hold downloaded and user-created content, such as custom levels and characters. Once you erase a memory card, all of the data on the card will be lost and cannot be recovered.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the PS2 on. Remove any games or DVDs from the disc tray. This will bring you to the PS2 home menu.

    • 2

Insert the memory card that you want to erase. Select this memory card when it comes on the screen by pressing the X button. You will be presented with a list of saved content on the memory card.

    • 3

Select "Format." Select "Yes" when asked to confirm. This will erase all of the data on your memory card.
