God of War II Help

"God of War II" puts the player in control of Kratos, a powerful warrior from ancient Greece. In this sequel to the Playstation 2 game, "God of War," Kratos is no longer a god after angering Zeus. It is the player's job to get Kratos' power back. The game is full of frantic fights and blockbuster-movie cinematics, and it can be a challenge. Use these tips if you find yourself needing a little help in "God of War II."

Master Your Combos
- Stringing combinations of various fighting moves together into one seamless fight (called a "combo") is one of the best ways to succeed in this game. According to ign.com, there are a couple different combos that you should master: a solid ground combo and a solid air combo. Ign.com recommends using the Plume of Prometheus ground combo. This combo can be executed by pressing "Square," "Square," and "Triangle" on your controller. Press the buttons in quick succession. To make this combo more devastating, tack on the Cyclone of Chaos (by pressing the "L1" button and the "Square" button) at the end of the Plume of Prometheus.
  
  As for a solid air combo, you first need to launch the enemy into the air. Pressing the "Triangle" attack button will accomplish this. Follow this up by jumping into the air and perform a combo, such as the Plume of Prometheus. Again, you can finish the attack off with the Cyclone of Chaos. Use these combos to defeat harder enemies.
Be Smart with Your Upgrades
- Upgrading your weapons and magic is important; it unlocks more powerful moves and abilities and generally makes the game easier to manage. This process, however, is expensive. For this reason, you need to be smart with what you choose to upgrade. According to mycheats.1up.com, in the early portion of the game you should focus your upgrades on your main weapons: the Blades of Athena. Upgrade your blades to level 3 as soon as possible; this unlocks powerful attacks that can be used early on in the game and will remain strong attacks for much of the game that follows.
Protection While Throwing
- Mycheats.1up.com also suggests using several throw attacks when you find yourself becoming overwhelmed by enemies. Although the throw attack is generally a weak attack, it has a big advantage: while you are throwing an enemy (while the game is showing the throw-enemy animation), Kratos is completely invulnerable to attack. Time your throws with enemy attacks. You will be able to throw enemies away from you and focus on other enemies around you while conserving your health.
