Opening the PS2
Put a clean cloth down on a work surface. Remove the power plug and audio and video cables from the PS2 and place the PS2 face down on the clean cloth.
Remove the plugs covering the screws using the jeweler's flat-head screwdriver. Remove the screws with the Phillips screwdriver. Put the screws aside.
Flip the PS2 face up and put it down on the clean cloth. Lift up the back and slide the top off of the console and place it down next to the console.
Cut the AWG wrapping wire into strips 5 inches long using the wire cutter. Cut as many AWG wrapping wires as there are contact pins on the mod chip.
Strip the insulation off both ends of the strips of wire using the wire strippers.
Heat up the soldering iron. Solder one end of a singe wire to each of the contact pins of the mod chip.
Let the solder cool.
Locate the area of the motherboard where it is to be soldered to, as per the instructions included with the mod chip. Solder each of the other ends of the single wires to the appropriate contact on the motherboard. Let the solder cool.
Place the mod chip down on the motherboard and secure it to the motherboard with the electrical tape.
Reverse the disassembly process to put the PS2 back together again. Plug in the power cord and the audio and video cables. Turn the PS2 on and enjoy using it in its newly modified state.
