Training
Monsters are created from disk stones, ancient relics that contain the genetic information of powerful creatures. Once you meet Nayuta, you can begin scanning your own collection of CDs and DVDs to create creatures or use "disk stones" that can be purchased from the in-game markets. Training monsters takes place at the ranch and involves adjusting the level and stat abilities of your creatures with gadgets. Intelligence and Power determine the damage of your monster's attacks. Accuracy determines if the attack will succeed. These are the most important attributes for defeating the chapter bosses and completing the game.
Speed, Life and Defense are secondary attributes that should be raised only after you have reached maximum in the attacks. Upgrade your ranch as soon as possible to get more gadgets and gain tricks for the shows.
Shows
Your trained monsters will perform in your shows and adventure alongside you. Work to increase your fame by putting on flawless shows. Increased fame results in more money. Each of the shows revolves around your monsters performing tricks they have learned from the gadgets in your ranch. Have your monsters specialize with gadgets until they get the highest level trick from that tool. High level tricks please the crowds more, resulting in more fame and money. Keep your shows in mind when training your monsters, as your gadgets will determine the availability of moves to win your fortune.
Adventuring
Adventuring involves setting out with your monster to battle higher-level monsters and increase your creature's anima levels. Use your mini-map to track down rogue monsters and treasure chests. Red dots show monsters and blue dots are treasure chests. Watch out, though, as some blue dots contain JackInTheCho monsters that appear as chests until you are next to them. This is dangerous as your position determines the starting Guts of the fight. Get the drop on monsters by approaching them from behind to start with full Guts and have more attacks available. If they get the drop on you, you'll start with fewer Guts and likely lose the battle.
You can ride some of your monsters to move quicker, but you'll pass hidden items if you do. By walking, your monster will be able to sense items that can be a great addition to your equipment or even sold for money. Battles are fairly intuitive--just remember to use the Link ability to strengthen your monsters and use your Union Attacks sparingly.
