Champions Return to Arms FAQ

Champions Return to Arms is the sequel to the hit Champions of Norrath from Sony Online Entertainment for the Playstation 2. Set in the world of Norrath, the primary setting of SOE's Everquest online game, Return to Arms allows players to adventure either solo or in a party of up to four to tackle further challenges that face the world.
  1. The Story

    • Return to Arms picks up where the first game ended. The evil god of hate, Innoruuk, is defeated and his soul shards are scattered across the Planes of Power. Players are given the choice of destroying him utterly or siding with evil forces to locate and combine the shards to summon him back into the world. Players will adventure through the lands of Norrath attempting to locate the shards.

    Character Classes

    • Characters may be any one of seven classes. The Barbarian and Berzerker classes focus heavily on hand-to-hand combat. Rangers and Wizards bring death from a distance. Shaman and Cleric characters can heal and enhance their powers and those of their teammates. The Shadowknight combines potent melee skills with dark rituals such as death touch, making them a powerful combination of might and magic.

    Skill Trees

    • Every character class has its own skill tree. These use skill points to unlock more powerful abilities as characters progress in levels. With the skill trees, players can play through the game multiple times with the same class and choose a different progression path for abilities. Thus, no two characters need be the same. This is important in multiplayer as it allows players to share classes yet contribute in their own ways.

    Gear

    • The game boasts over ten thousand different items, and items are customizable with rare gems found throughout Norrath. Adventurers are able to find items as loot on monsters as well as purchase them from quest-givers and other townsfolk. Much of the gear has a level requirement and characters will need to have gained experience prior to wearing more powerful items.

    Multiplayer

    • Like its predecessor, Return to Arms allows up to four players at a time through the use of the Playstation 2 Network Adapter. Players can group together to quest and adventure as a party, or they can experience player versus player combat. Player versus player mode is very class dependent and requires you to know your abilities and your opponents' in order to succeed.
