How many monsters are there?
There are 34 main monsters. The main monster breeds can be created at the Saucer Stone. Some of the main breeds, such as the Phoenix, do not become available until later in the game. There is a total of 328 different monsters when the combined subspecies are added to the main monsters. Subspecies are made from combining two main-type monsters. Not every combination of main breeds will create a new subspecies; the game will only allow monsters that create a subspecies to be combined.
How does the Saucer Stone work?
The Saucer Stone allows players to create monsters. The player must switch in a different CD, DVD, or game disc when prompted. The monster is created by reading random values off the inserted disc, determining the species, stats and characteristics of the monster. Any CD, DVD or game disc that can be read by the Playstation 2 can be used for this.
How do you know what monster a particular CD, DVD, or game disc will generate?
There is no way to predict what monster will be generated from any given disc. The Saucer Stone works with such a wide range of different disc types that the values it reads are arbitrary. The only way to find out what monster will be generated is to actually try the disc.
Why do so many discs give Mushtan?
Mushtan is the default monster if the Playstation 2 cannot read the disc. Some discs do legitimately give Mushtan. If Mushtan is coming up a lot, it is an indication you are trying to use PC or non-PS2 compatible games or your PS2 is having a problem reading discs.
What is the best monster?
There is no best monster. Some monsters may be better suited for your tactics or to counter your opponent, but there is no absolute best monster. Any well trained monster can legitimately be very effective in combat. If you are having difficulty with the game, the issue may be due to problems with your method of training.
What determines the lifespan of a monster?
The lifespan of a monster is based on what species it is. Most monster species will retire a few months after four years from their creation. Baku has the longest life span, retiring at four years and seven months after being created. Joker and Phoenix have the shortest life span, both retiring a little after three years from their creation. Monster subspecies breeds are based on the average lifespan of all the monsters used to create it.
How do I unfreeze a monster?
Choosing to freeze monsters removes them from your active monster group. This allows you to replace them with new monsters. The frozen monster can still be used to combine and create a new subspecies, and it can also still be retired in order to free up space in the freezer, which has a separate limit from the active monsters. There is no way to unfreeze a monster. There is no use for a frozen monster other than using it in combinations. Freezing only provides a means of circumventing the retirement age, so players can use monsters for combinations at their convenience.
