Monster Jam Video Game Tips

Monster Jam is a video game based on the USHRA monster truck festival and many of their real-world tracks. Developed by Torus Games and published by Activision in 2007, many of the most popular trucks are licensed for this game, including Gravedigger, Bounty Hunter and Maximum Destruction. This game is available for the Xbox 360, Play Station 2, Nintendo Wii and the Nintendo DS.
  1. Unlocking the Trucks

    • There are so many great trucks in Monster Jam that you will be chomping at the bit to destroy everything in sight. To get at the action faster, you can use this simple code from the main menu screen: R1, R1, R2, R2, L1, L1, L2, L2, START. This will unlock all the trucks, making them playable whenever you want. This includes the almighty Gravedigger truck, which is literally unstoppable on the field. One word of warning: This code will prevent you from being awarded some achievements on the Xbox 360.

    Accelerating Into Cars

    • Many of the events that earn the best cash in Monster Jam involve running over a pile of cars. The more cars you run over without stopping, the better the pay out. If you go too fast, you risk flipping your truck over backwards and not getting any cash; if you go too slow, you win very little. The key is to almost red-line your "RPM" meter, located in the lower left-hand corner of your screen. Accelerate your truck into the yellow using your "X" button, but be careful not to dip into the red. Also, do not use any nitro boosters until after you are on top of the cars, or you again run the risk of flipping your truck.

    Drifting Corners

    • Like many racing games, you can "drift" into corners, allowing you to accelerate through turns without losing any speed. Drifting is a bit more complicated in Monster Jam because the trucks aren't as fast as race cars. To perform your first drift, accelerate to almost your maximum speed and keep your finger away from the brakes, you won't need them. Turn into the corner and release the gas pedal ("X" button) until you are half way through the turn (approximately 90 degrees). Once you are past the 90 degree mark, accelerate again and fire off a nitro booster. This will push you into the red line but also put you at maximum speed when you hit the straight areas of the track.
