Visit the synthesis shop in Traverse Town. You can enter the shop for the first time by accessing the Green Trinity symbol on the floor in the Accessory Shop.
Synthesize the 24 items available in the synthesis shop. This will take you a good deal of the game, as ingredients for some of the recipes will not be available until near the end of the game.
Work on each group of items one group at a time. The items in the shop are split into six groups, with each group containing four items. After synthesizing the first three items in a group, the fourth will be available for creation.
Hunt down the materials to create the Dream Sword-infused Ultima Weapon after all the items have been created. The items needed to create the weapon are as follows: Five Lucid Gems, Five Power Gems, Five Thunder Gems, Three Mystery Goo and Three Gales.
Find Lucid Gems in Halloween Town by defeating Gargoyles and White Knights. Power Gems are located in Neverland from Pirates and Thunder Gems can be found in Atlantica by fighting Aquatanks and Screwdrivers.
Visit the End of the World and fight Angel Stars and Invisibles to track down the Gales needed in the recipe.
Find the Mystery Goo by choosing one location in the game and battling Heartless until you come across a White Mushroom. These enemies are defeated by casting the spells the enemy asks you to cast. Casting three spells in a row of the same element will cause the White Mushroom to drop an item. Continue to hunt and cast spells on the White Mushrooms until you obtain the necessary Mystery Goo.
Take all your items back to the synthesis shop and hand them over to the Moogle. You will be rewarded with the weapon.
