How to Find a PS2 IP Address

While the Sony Playstation 2 (PS2) Network Adapter accessory supports a large list of games, few PS2 owners are familiar with the process to utilize the device. If you are attempting to use your Sony PS2 in conjunction with the Sony PS2 Network Adapter, you may need to utilize a network demilitarized zone (DMZ) or port forwarding. If this is the case, it is necessary for you to identify the PS2's IP address to fully utilize your network.

Sony Playstation 2 network adapter
Sony network access disc
Sony Playstation 2 memory card
Computer

Instructions

  Turn on your Sony PS2 and press the "Eject" button.

  Insert the Sony Network Access Disc. Also, ensure that the memory card containing the Network Adapter data is inserted into the PS2.

  Turn on your computer, and open an MS-DOS window by clicking "Start" and "Run." Then type "cmd" in the window that comes up and press "Enter."

  Type "ipconfig /all," then press "Enter" in the MS-DOS window. Take note of your default gateway address.

  Type "ping" and then the first three sections of your default gateway address followed by "255" and press "Enter." For example, if your default gateway address is 192.168.0.1, then type "ping 192.168.0.255" and press "Enter" in the MS-DOS window. It is not unusual for these requests to time out.

  Type "arp -a" into the MS-DOS window and press "Enter." This will display a list of MAC addresses and IP addresses on your network. Look in the "Physical Address" column for an address starting with "00-04-1f..." This is your PS2, and to the left of the "Physical Address" column is the "Internet Address" column, which is the same as the IP address. The "Internet Address" that is on the same row as the MAC address for your PS2 is your IP address.
