How to Install Playstation 2 Games

During the lifespan of the Playstation 2, several games were released that used the Playstation hard disk drive, an add-on device that is compatible with earlier models of the console. Using the HDD reduces load times, houses additional content and is required for the online role playing game Final Fantasy XI. While the device is no longer compatible with the slimmed-down models of PS2, backwards compatible models of Playstation 3 are now able to replicate the hard drive.

Things You'll Need

  • Playstation 2 (Model Number Below 70000) or backwards compatible Playstation 3 (20GB or 60GB)
  • Playstation 2 hard disk drive
  • HDD-supported PS2 game
