Things You'll Need
Instructions
Unplug the power cable and output jack from the back of the Playsation 2 console. Remove the controllers and any extra peripherals you have attached to it. Set the console down flat on its side, so that the back end is facing toward you with the controller parts on the opposite side.
Slip a flat head screwdriver or some other flat object, such a table knife, underneath the rubber stoppers that cover the screws. Pull up toward you to pop the stoppers out so that the screws are visible.
Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove all the screws. Grab the left side of the cover near the output ports and lift the lid slowly and carefully off. Do not pull from the right side or you may accidentally damage the reset button, which may prevent you from using the console once you put it back together.
Turn the unit over so that the front side is facing up toward you and the side with the cover removed is facing down. Slide the panel off and then set it aside. Remove all the screws holding the large black loading tray into place.
Pull the cover off the loading tray to access all of the internal components of the Playstation 2 console.
