Things You'll Need
Instructions
Take any game you may have in your Playstation 2 system. You will not be able to access the memory card menu on the PS with a game in the disc drive.
Stick your new memory card in the first memory card slot. A lot of games will require you to have a memory card in slot 1 in order to save the game properly, so that's why your card needs to be formatted in the first slot.
Turn the PS2 game system on. The Sony screen will appear and then you will be taken to the main menu.
Using the Sony PS2 game controller choose the memory card icon on the screen by pressing the X button. This will open up the memory card menu where you can format cards and delete unwanted data. A message prompt will come up on your screen asking you to format your new PS2 memory card.
Press the X button to select the Yes option. This will automatically format your memory card in your Playstation.
Purchase the Linux installation kit for your Playstation 2 console. This program was created to turn your PS into an actual functioning computer complete with keyboard and all. The installation disc that comes with the software is one of the only ways to reformat a card that has corrupted data on it.
Open the disc drive and insert the installation disc from the Linux package. Close the drive and wait for the software to get started. Make sure your memory card is plugged into slot 1.
Install the program following all of the necessary prompts. This will wipe your memory card clean of all corrupted data and allow you to use it again to save your games.
