How to Play Copied Games on a Playstation2

The main reason someone would make a copy of their Playstation2 game is to keep the original from getting scratched. Copied games won't work on a Playstation2 unless you modify the console. The best method to use is a mod chip and Swap magic disc. Here are the steps to modify a slim Playstation2 so you can play copied games on it.

Things You'll Need

  • Playstation2
  • Copy of Swap magic 3.6

Buy a modification tool, either a mod chip or Swap magic. Swap magic is recommended, even though you will still need a mod chip. Use either a flip top cover or a slide tool.

    • 2

Read the instructions before doing anything else. If you don't install the mod chip and Swap magic properly, you could mess up your Playstation2 so it won't work right. When you install the mod chip and either Swap magic or the slide rule, the Playstation2 won't realize that you're swapping the games.

Put the Swap magic 3.6 disc into the Playstation2 and turn on the power. When the message Load CD comes on the screen, open the flip top and wait for the disk to stop spinning. Remove the Swap magic disc and replace it with the copied disk. Click "Load CD."
