Develop an invite list. Think about friends that would enjoy this type of gathering. Consider friends who play Guitar Hero, fans of rock and metal music who enjoy parties.
Prepare the arena. Plan the space where the main event accommodates the number of people invited and expect to play. Rearrange furniture to create a semicircle around the television and performance space.
Get an extra Guitar Hero controller. The game has a two-player mode where two people face off by playing alternating parts of the same song. Two people can also get in on the action with Guitar Hero II, which allows one person to play lead guitar while another covers the bass or rhythm guitar part.
Organize the game to allow everyone to play. Have a free for all or set up a tournament. Consider how serious friends are about the game--a tournament is ideal while a first come, first served approach is better when the guests are newbies.
Stock up on chips, drinks and pizza. Play rock music on the stereo as people are arriving to put them in to mood for the game. Encourage people to take the stage.
