Tips for Yu-Gi-Oh! GX: The Beginning of Destiny

Buy Any Card

• To receive new cards in "Yu-Gi-Oh! GX: The Beginning of Destiny," you must purchase booster packs, which give you a random chance to find a variety of cards. However, using the Cheats menu, located in the main menu of the game, you can purchase any card instantly using your accumulated duel points. Many of these cards, especially the powerful ones, require more duel points than taking your chance on a booster pack -- the tradeoff for using this method. Once in the Cheats menu, enter the eight-digit numerical combination of the card you wish to purchase.

Unlock Booster Packs

• When you begin "The Beginning of Destiny," you only have four booster packs to purchase. You can unlock additional booster packs by performing actions in-game, such as attaining a high level of trust with someone, winning a large number of duels and advancing the story. However, one booster pack, the Midday Constellation Booster Pack, can be unlocked immediately by inputting a code in the store's purchasing menu. Enter "Up," "Up," "Down," "Down," "Left," "Right," "Left," "Right," "X," and "Circle," a code many gamers will recognize as the infamous Konami code, found in many of their games.

Syncing With PSP

• If you own a Sony PSP and a copy of "Yu-Gi-Oh! GX: Tag Force 2," you can unlock rewards in your copy of "The Beginning of Destiny." Connect your PSP to your PlayStation 2 using a USB cable and select "Database," followed by "USB Connect" on both games. Once this is complete, you are awarded 10,000 Duel Points in "The Beginning of Destiny" along with three free cards. However, this trick can only be done once per save file.

Pharaoh the Cat

• Raising your duel partner's trust is important as this is one of the methods to unlock new booster packs. This is done by speaking to them and saying the right dialogue options, based on their personality, in a conversation. However, before speaking to your partner, locate Pharaoh the Cat, who is at a random location in the Duel Academy. With Pharaoh in tow, any conversation you have with your partner will instantly raise his trust bar, regardless of the conversation options you have selected.

God Cards

• The three God cards, Uria, Lord of Searing Flames, Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder, and Raviel, Lord of Phantasms, are among the most powerful cards in the game. To gain these cards, complete the story mode and they will be given to you for free. You can now use these cards in any duel, giving you a large advantage over your competition.
