A List of Magics From Final Fantasy X

Beefing up your characters' magic abilities in "Final Fantasy X" is crucial if you want to successfully complete the Playstation 2 RPG. Characters in the game gain magic abilities by earning AP through winning battles. You can then spend that AP in each character's "Sphere Grid" on the menu screen. In "Final Fantasy X," most characters can use two types of magic, White and Black Magic, while Kimahri benefits from special Blue Magic.
  1. White Magic

    • Most White Magic is support magic used to either replenish a character's HP, heal certain status ailments or to enhance a character's status. However, a few of them can have negative status effects on an enemy, such as Dispel and Slow. Additionally, players can use Cure, Cura, Curaga and Life to attack undead foes.

      Cure replenishes some of a character's HP (4 MP).
      Cura replenishes more of a character's HP than Cure (10 MP).
      Curaga replenishes a great deal of a character's HP (20 MP).
      Scan analyzes enemies to inform the player about its weaknsesses, if any (1 MP).
      Nulblaze protects a character from a fire attack once (2 MP).
      Nulshock protects a character from a lightning attack once (2 MP).
      Nultide protects a character from a water attack once (2 MP).
      Nulfrost protects a character from an ice attack once (2 MP).
      Esuna heals all status ailments except Break, Curse, Doom, KO and Zombie (5 MP).
      Life restores a character's life after their HP reaches 0 (18 MP).
      Full-Life restores a character's life while replenishing all HP (60 MP).
      Haste makes a character move faster and deliver more attacks (8 MP).
      Hastega has the same effect as Haste, but makes the character even faster (30 MP).
      Slow slows down an enemy, reducing the number of attacks it makes (12 MP).
      Slowga has the same effect as Slow, but makes the enemy even slower (20 MP).
      Shell increases a character's defense against magic attacks (10 MP).
      Protect increases a character's defense against physical attacks (12 MP).
      Reflect volleys magic attacks back at the enemy (14 MP).
      Dispel stops both positive and negative status ailments (12 MP).
      Regen replenishes part of a character's HP each turn for 10 turns (40 MP).
      Holy delivers a powerful Holy elemental-based attack to enemies (85 MP).
      Auto-Life allows a character to automatically resurrect when defeated (97 MP).

    Black Magic

    • Most Black Magic is elemental-based attack magic cast on enemies to reduce their HP. Because different enemies have different elemental strengths and weaknesses, some magic spells will prove ineffective on enemies with an immunity. Conversely, some magic attacks will deal additional damage to characters with weaknesses to specific elements. However, even enemies with immunities to all elements will still take damage from attacks such as Flare and Ultima.

      Fire deals fire elemental damage (4 MP).
      Thunder deals lightning elemental damage (4 MP).
      Water deals water elemental damage(4 MP).
      Blizzard deals ice elemental damage (4 MP).
      Fira deals more powerful fire elemental damage(4 MP).
      Thundara deals more powerful lightning elemental damage (8 MP).
      Watera deals more powerful water elemental damage (8 MP).
      Blizarra deals more powerful ice elemental damage (8 MP).
      Firaga deals the most powerful fire elemental damage (16 MP).
      Thundaga deals the most powerful lightning elemental damage (16 MP).
      Waterga deals the most powerful water elemental damage (16 MP).
      Blizzaga deals the most powerful ice elemental damage (16 MP).
      Bio infects the enemy with Poison, which reduces its HP every turn (10 MP).
      Demi reduces a fourth of an enemy's HP (32 MP).
      Death immediately defeats the enemy (20 MP).
      Drain sucks out HP from an enemy and gives it to the magic user (12 MP).
      Osmose sucks out MP from an enemy and gives it to the magic user (Uses no MP).
      Flare inflicts powerful damage to an enemy, free of elemental association (54 MP).
      Ultima inflicts the most powerful damage to an enemy, free of elemental association (90 MP).

    Blue Magic

    • Blue Magic is a special type of magic that only the character Kimahri uses when entering "Overdrive" mode. To learn new Blue Magic abilities, players must use Kimari's "Lancet" ability on specific enemies. Players must then select the "Ronso Rage" Overdrive option during battle to access the Blue Magic abilities. Kimahri can learn all of the Blue Magic abilities when fighting Biran or Yenke, thus eliminating the need to hunt the specific monsters listed below.

      Kimahri starts out with the "Jump" ability, which causes him to jump on top of an enemy, when he joins the player's party. The other Blue Magic attacks, along with monsters to gain the abilities from, are as follows:

      Aqua Breath attacks enemies with water elemental damage (learned from Chimera, Chimera Brain or Yenke).
      Bad Breath inflicts several status ailments on an enemy, all at once (learned from Biran, Marlboro or Great Marlboro).
      Doom creates a countdown from 20 to appear over an enemy's head, destroying the enemy when it reaches 0 (learned from Biran, Ghost or Wraith).
      Fire Breath attacks enemies with fire elemental damage (learned from Dual Horn, Grendel, Valaha or Yenke).
      Mighty Guard casts Protect, NulAll and Shell on the player's party (learned from Behemoth, King Behemoth or Yenke).
      Nova attacks enemies with non-elemental damage (learned from Golden Omega, Nemesis or Omega).
      Seed Cannon attacks an enemy, inflicting Confusion upon it (learned from Balsam, Grat or Ragora).
      Self Destruct causes Kimahri to explode to deal damage, but removes him from the rest of the battle (learned from Biran, Bomb, Grenade or Puroboros).
      Stone Breath inflicts an enemy with PEtrify (learned from Anacondaur, Basilisk, Hedge Viper or Yenke).
      Thrust Kick immediately removes an enemy from battle (learned from Biran, YKT-11 or YKT-63).
      White Wind heals the party according to what Kimahri's HP is, and removes all their negative status ailments (learned from Dark Flan, Spirit or Yenke).

    Aeons

    • The character Yuna has the ability to summon creatures called Aeons, magical beings that assist in battle. Aeons replace the other two characters in a player's party, but the player gets to control the Aeon's attacks.

      "Final Fantasy X" features right Aeons:

      Valefor, a non-elemental with Energy Ray and Energy Blast attacks;
      Ifrit, a fire elemental with a Hellfire attack;
      Ixion, a lightning elemental with a maneuver called Thor's Hammer;
      Shiva, an ice elemental with an attack called Diamond Dust;
      Bahamut, a non-elemental with an attack called Mega Flare;
      Yojimbo, a non-elemental with four different sword-based attacks;
      Anima, a non-elemental with an attack called Oblivion;
      Magus Sisters, a trio of non-elemental characters with a three-way Delta Attack.
