How to Install a Magic Switch for a PS2

The Magic Switch for the PS2 Slim console allows users to manipulate the PS2 case cover so that you can play imported games from other countries such as Japan. The process requires three different plastic tools that slide in specific areas on the console. Depending on the version of the Magic Switch you have, you will either have to leave the PS2 cover open or the cover can snap back into place.

  Press the "Open" button on your PS2 slim console. Remove any discs that sit inside.

  Peel back the sticker on piece "A" of your Magic Switch kit. Face the narrow side down and stick it straight into the front hole so that the sticky side connects with the sensor.

  Use the eraser side of a pencil to push back the "Disc Brake" in the PS2. The disc brake is in the back right corner of the player. Push it to the right and slide piece "B" behind the disc brake. Slide in the part without the small tab first.

  Locate the left hinge on the PS2 cover. Find the small hole in the back of the hinge and insert piece "C." This will cover the PS2 closed cover sensor.

  Insert a disc and press the "Power" button on the PS2. If the disc spins and starts to load on the screen, all of the parts were properly inserted and the Switch works.
