Walkthrough for Treasure Planet for the PS2

"Treasure Planet" for PS2 is an adaptation of the 2002 Walt Disney movie of the same name. "Treasure Planet" was adapted from the classic Robert Louis Stevenson tale, "Treasure Island," into a science-fiction animated film that takes place in space. PlayStation 2's "Treasure Planet" game is designed for a younger audience and features puzzles that offer a moderate challenge. Several additional video games in the "Treasure Planet" franchise were released for PC and other gaming platforms, but the PlayStation game corresponds only with the film.
  1. Montressor

    • Montressor is the first stage of the game, which helps the gamer get comfortable with the controls and tasks. There are three sub-levels in Montressor: Clifftops, Ore Refinery and the Hydro-Dam. To complete the Clifftops level, you will need to outsmart Delilah by double-jumping ahead of her on the metal platform. To complete the Ore Refinery level, you will need to race for one then three laps, collecting the green energy and avoiding the arms that come at you while you make your laps on your Solar Surfer. The Hydro-Dam also requires you to ride your Solar Surfer, this time guiding the surf board through the energy rings. There are a couple of hidden energy rings, as well. One beyond the rock sack and the other you will see on the right side as you jump over the water.

    Crescentia Spaceport

    • There are four sub-levels in the Crescentia Spaceport section of the game: Loading Tower, Dockside Race, Crescentia Nightside and Ferry Port. To complete the Loading Tower level, you have to use cyborg arms to wake the Sleepy Snuffs. This task requires the use of Morph, who will turn into the cyborg arms to assist you. Dockside Race is a Solar Surfer level in which you must guide your surf board through 30 rings, locate 10 green energy and slide your surfer along five ships to complete.

To beat the Crescentia Nightside level, use the L1 and R1 buttons to crouch and sneak from one safe area to the next. Avoid the yellow cone area which signifies the Robot Cops' vision. Ferry Port involves traffic you must weave through, collection gold doubloons and smashing traffic lights by jumping and hitting them. To get through the traffic, double- and triple-jump or use the boats when available.

    Legacy

    • Legacy has four sub-levels, as well: Super Nova, Meteor Belt, Arcturian Trader and Scroop. Super Nova starts with small tasks that lead you to the hammer switch. After the hammer switch, you tilt the ship around to guide meteors into a hole in the deck. The last part of Super Nova employs the Cyborg Arms again, but you are on a time limit and you will need the Cyborg Arms to open the door at the end. The Meteor Belt is a surfer level and slightly more difficult than previous levels. You have to ignite seven of the nine craters, which are in a figure-eight pattern. You can ignite them in the order you find them in.

Arturian Trader is a level that may take several tries to complete because you have to jump, double- and triple-jump to get across wide open spaces. Use the mines to defeat Mr. Hands. The final level of Legacy is Scroop, a spider-boss you must defeat by jumping over him and using Morph's helping hands to reach the lever. The helping hands icon will appear when you can use it. Kick Scroop when he is under the lever, over the hatch, and he will be stunned temporarily so you can activate the lever.

    Treasure Planet

    • The four sub-levels in the Treasure Planet section are: Jungle Floor, Jungle Race, Helium Swamp and Gateway to Below. In Jungle Floor, glide through the 12 rings on your Solar Surfer and reach the laser towers, but avoid the laser beams. To avoid the laser beams and reach the towers, take one tower at a time and after the laser shoots, run around the tower in the opposite direction the laser moves. When you reach the other side, jump on the mushroom then move on to the second tower. Use the Cyborg Arms on the final task of the Jungle Floor level. Smash the window with the Cyborg Arms to get the boots that help you get across the lava. In Jungle Race, complete three laps on your Solar Surfer while collecting 10 green energy and 100 gold doubloons. Glide through the rings to pick up speed. In the Helium Swamp level, jump on the cactus just as the spikes start to retract so you have enough time to jump again. You need to reach the beacon after the second cactus. Punch five of the spore plants to reveal the next beacon then use the speed boots again to complete a race.

Gateway to Below is the final level of Treasure Planet before the final section of the game. Use the Cyborg Arms to go up the vine and triple-jump to the island. Get on the glider platform and activate the beacon. In the flooded chamber you will need to jump across by landing on mushrooms. After your cross the flooded chamber, use the jet pack you receive to reach any remaining gold doubloons.

    Center of the Mechanism

    • Center of the Mechanism has five sub-levels: Rapid Descent, Centroid, Ancient Machines, Silver and Final Escape. The final stage of the game begins with Rapid Descent, in which you have to glide through 35 rings quickly in order to catch the boat. Some of the rings you will need to jump up to pass through. The Centroid level requires you to actually play with the camera view reversed as you try to outrun lava. If your character dies during this chase, you retain the gold doubloons you have collected, so do not worry if it takes several tries. Ancient Machines requires the Solar Surfer and this is the last time in the game you use it. You need to find 10 green energy again, and one is hiding under a big ball.

The Silver level is the second and final "boss" level. You have to avoid the shots fired by Silver, the boss in this level. Use the Cyborg Arms to enhance your attacks and kick him when he is stunned. When Silver is defeated the Final Escape level opens.

    Final Escape

    • Final Escape is the last level of the Center of the Mechanism section of "Treasure Planet" and the last level of the game. This timed level allows 110 seconds to complete. You do not have to worry about the rings as you did in earlier race levels, instead use the boost sections to pick up speed, drop your sail when you see the bars (L1) and raise your sail with the R1 button. If you hit a wall, you will lose speed. The final difficulty is just at the end when two columns fall in your path. Drop your sail and move to the left, then the right, going under the columns.
