How to Burn IMG Files so That They Work on the PS2

IMG files are similar to ISO files. They both contain the data and contents of a disc. The files are used to create discs. Burning IMG files involves taking the IMG file and writing it to a disc so that the disc is playable in disc players, including Sony's PlayStation 2 console. Discs that can be played with the PS2 include 12 cm DVD-ROM and CD-ROM discs in the PlayStation 2 format, and 12cm or 8cm audio CDs, DVD videos and DVD-RW (VR Mode) discs. The discs must be finalized. And, they can't be viewed if the were recorded from media with CPRM copy protection in place.

Instructions

    • 1

Select the IMG image file on the computer's hard drive from within the burning software and click "Open." If the file is unavailable, change the file extension to "ISO."

    • 2

Choose the "Write" option as the "Action" to be performed and leave the "Writing" options set to their defaults. Make sure "Finalize" on completion is checked, if the option is available.

    • 3

Place the blank disc into the recorder and press "Burn." Don't use irregularly-shaped discs because they won't play properly on the PS2. Allow the burn process to finish. Press "Finalize, which fixes and concludes the recording. The disc will eject on completion.

    • 4

Insert the disc into the PS2. Press "Open" and the content will display on the screen. Restart the video if you experience problems playing the disc in the PS2.
