Things You'll Need
Instructions
Flip over your console and remove the six screw covers found on the bottom of the system. The covers are small plastic squares found around the outside edge of the console, and can be easily removed by hand.
Remove the six screws found under the screw covers, and place them in a safe location. Flip the console back over.
Gently remove the top cover of the console, starting by lifting the upper left hand corner and working counter-clockwise. Once the cover is loose from the console, lift it off and set the console body aside. Flip the console cover over.
Remove the two screws from the hinge on the disc tray lid and set them in a secure location. Turn the cover back over.
Press the disc tray button to open the lid. Once the lid is halfway open, lift the cover off of the console cover and set it aside.
Insert the new flip top lid into the place of the original lid, keeping it halfway open to secure the hinge. Once the flip top lid is installed into place, close the lid and flip over the console cover. Replace the two hinge screws.
Turn the console cover back over and carefully place it back onto the console, ensuring that the cover fits into place. Flip the entire console over and replace the six screws to secure the console cover.
Replace the screw covers, and turn the console upright. Your PlayStation 2 has been successfully modded to accept swap discs that will allow you to play import and back up games.
