How Do I Turn Off Gambits in FFXII?

The "Final Fantasy XII" video game for PlayStation 2 pits Vaan, Ashe and their team of resistance fighters in a crusade against the Archadians, a nefarious occupying army in Dalmasca, the group's home country. The game's battle sequences feature "gambits," pre-programmed moves that blend with manual attacks to form a fighting strategy. Turning off gambits lets you fight your battles without pre-selected moves.

     Press the triangle button on the controller. The game's menu appears.

     Select "Party" from the list of options.

   • 3

     Press "X" on one of the characters. A list of options for the character appears.

     Select "Gambits," then "Off." The gambits for the chosen character are disabled.

   • 5

     Press "Right" on the D-Pad (arrow buttons.) The same options appear for the next character.

   • 6

     Repeat Step 4 to turn off gambits for each character.
