How to Use a PS2 Gameshark

Plug in your PlayStation game controller or a USB keyboard into the appropriate slot on the game console. Insert your memory card into the memory card slot above the first player controller.

Turn on your PlayStation 2 console and open the disc tray. Place your Gameshark disc into the tray and close it. Wait for the Gameshark interface to appear on your screen.

Select the "Expert Cheat Mode" item from the main menu by pressing the up and down buttons on your controller or keyboard, then pressing the "X" button on your controller or the "enter" key on your keyboard to open the Expert Cheat Mode menu. A list of games for which the Gameshark software can activate cheats will appear.

Scroll through the list of games using the up and down buttons, and select the game that you want to activate the Gameshark cheats for. Press the right button on your keyboard or controller's directional pad to open a list of the specific cheats which you can activate for the game. Activate the cheats of your choice by pressing the "X" button or hitting "enter" on your keyboard. The name of the cheat will then glow on your screen, indicating that you have it selected.

Press the "Start" button on your game controller or "F2" on your keyboard to confirm the cheats you want to activate for your game. A menu will pop up on your screen with the message: "Start Game with Cheats On?" Select the "OK" option and press the "X" button or hit "enter" to confirm your choice. A message on your screen stating "Insert Game Disc" will appear on your screen.

Open your disc tray and insert the disc for the game you wish to play. Close the disc tray and press the "X" button on your game controller or "enter" on your keyboard to confirm that you have inserted the game disc. Wait for the console to reset and begin playing your game with the Gameshark cheats activated.
