"Dragon Quest 8" is the 8th installment in the long running "Dragon Quest" franchise, though previous titles were entitled "Dragon Warrior" instead. Sometimes the player characters will find cursed items that cannot be removed by the player character alone. One such item is the cursed armor, which lowers the player's defense rating rather than raising it, making battles more difficult.

Go to a church. There is a church in every settlement.

Speak with the priest who saves your game.

Choose "Benediction" from his speech options. This will remove the armor.
