"Final Fantasy X" introduced players to the sport of Blitzball, an underwater ballgame that many of the main characters play. Blitzball is a minigame that spans the length of the game and rewards players with items, weapons, accessories and money when they win Blitzball matches. To have a strong Blitzball team, you need the best players, and you can recruit them from the many different nonplayable characters you meet throughout your adventure. Each new game location brings a new batch of Blitzball players, hidden among the locals, for you to recruit.

Approach a nonplayable character in any area of the world.

Press the Square button to ask the character about Blitzball. If they are not a Blitzball player, the character will respond with their normal dialogue. If the character does play Blitzball, you will receive information about their Blitzball stats.

Select "Sign Player" to add the player to your Blitzball team.
